Senja videregående skole was authorized as an IB World school I 2007 – the first IB school in the Arctic. Since then, the school has hosted students from all around the globe. People who want adventures, equal opportunities, unspoilt nature and new experiences have always been seeking north. The school is a state funded boarding school situated close to the town Finnsnes in Arctic Norway, six hours drive north of the Polar Circle.
Finnsnes is the commercial centre in the area and has various town offers. In the winter, we enjoy the Polar nights with snow and the Aurora Borealis, and, in the summer, we thrive under the Midnight sun.
Our location in the Arctic means that the sun is below the horizon for two months in Winter and shines 24-7 in the Summer. The nature here is wild and vulnerable which gives us an automatic focus on sustainable development – without active citizens with global perspectives people could not survive here.
Senja offer IB, NOT pre-IB!
